Geofencing

Restricting hardware node deployments or reward multipliers to specific geographic zones defined in the protocol.

Protocols may use geofencing to prevent reward farming in already-saturated areas, to comply with radio-frequency regulations in certain countries, or to incentivize coverage in under-served regions. Coverage assertions on Helium are a form of on-chain geofencing.
