RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator)

A measurement of the power level of a radio signal received by a device, expressed in dBm — a key metric for verifying genuine coverage in DePIN wireless networks.

Helium's Proof of Coverage uses RSSI to validate witness reports: a witness claiming to hear a beacon at an implausibly high RSSI for its distance is flagged as suspicious. RSSI data is also used by analytics tools to map real-world coverage quality.
