Sybil Resistance

The property of a protocol that prevents a single actor from simulating many independent nodes to capture a disproportionate share of rewards.

In DePIN, Sybil attacks typically take the form of GPS spoofing, virtual hotspots, or duplicate device identities. Protocols counter this with hardware attestation chips (e.g. ECC608 on Helium miners), location-based witnesses, radio frequency fingerprinting, and stake-backed penalties for dishonest behavior.
